As part of the A465 Sections 5 & 6 dualling project, GT Jones Contracting Ltd was engaged to deliver a series of advanced erosion control and water management structures. This included the installation of over 1.3km of Concrete Canvas® and a network of large-scale blockstone cascades, supporting long-term drainage and slope stability across the scheme.
Scope of Work
- 1.3km of Concrete Canvas® installed across steep slopes and drainage channels.
- Multiple blockstone cascades, each ranging from 4m to 15m in height
- Works spanned numerous locations along the corridor, often in constrained or sloped terrain
- Tasks included: site prep, subgrade works, canvas deployment, blockstone placement, and flow control detailing
- Coordination with environmental and drainage teams to ensure compliance with design and ecological standards
Outcomes
- All works delivered on time, safely, and to a high standard
- Enhanced water conveyance and slope erosion protection
- Improved long-term durability and reduced maintenance risk for the client
- Works integrated successfully with surrounding civil packages (ducting, drainage, landscaping)
